Germany Extradites Suspect in $1 Million Fraud Case to Kazakhstan After Decade-Long Manhunt
@TengriNews
An international fugitive, wanted for over a decade on charges of defrauding a Kazakhstani entrepreneur of $1 million, has been extradited from Germany to Kazakhstan. The suspect was returned to face criminal prosecution following a coordinated operation by Kazakh authorities and Interpol.
According to the investigation, in 2014, the individual conspired with others under the pretense of facilitating a shipment of computer equipment. Using this scheme, the group allegedly deceived the businessman and fraudulently obtained one million dollars.
After committing the alleged crime, the suspect fled Kazakhstan, prompting authorities to place him on an international wanted list. The long-running search concluded in September 2025 when he was located and detained by German law enforcement.
The extradition was carried out by officers from Kazakhstan's General Prosecutor's Office and Interpol, with logistical support from the Kazakh embassy in Germany. The suspect is now in a pre-trial detention facility.
If convicted on charges of large-scale fraud committed by an organized group, he faces a potential prison sentence of up to ten years with confiscation of property.
