Kazakh and Turkish Presidents Discuss Erdogan's Astana Visit and Turkic Summit

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The leaders began the call by exchanging warm congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and the Nauryz holiday.

President Erdogan congratulated Tokayev on the successful nationwide referendum and the adoption of Kazakhstan's new Constitution. The Turkish leader noted that this achievement was made possible by the wise and confident policy of the Kazakh President.

Erdogan expressed confidence that the new Basic Law would give a strong impetus to Kazakhstan's further progressive development and strengthen its domestic and international potential.

In response, President Tokayev thanked Turkish observers for their active participation and assistance in holding the referendum, which reflects the traditionally fraternal and friendly nature of relations between the two nations.

The conversation focused on upcoming high-level engagements. President Erdogan stated that he attaches great importance to his planned state visit to Kazakhstan on May 14. During this visit, a meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council is scheduled, alongside an upcoming informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States.

President Tokayev agreed with his counterpart on the immense importance of these planned top-level talks in Astana for giving additional momentum to bilateral strategic partnership. He also emphasized his high hopes for the summit of Turkic-speaking countries' leaders in Turkistan, adding that the Kazakh people would warmly welcome President Erdogan's stay in their country.

In turn, President Erdogan invited his Kazakh counterpart to participate in a Diplomatic Forum session in Antalya this April. The invitation was accepted with gratitude.
