The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan has announced plans to extend the temporary ban on the export of gasoline, diesel fuel, and certain other petroleum products from the country.

According to a draft order published by the ministry, the prohibition on exporting petroleum products by road transport, including to member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), will be extended from May 21, 2026, to November 21, 2026. Restrictions on the export of light distillates by rail will also remain in place during this period.

Furthermore, an additional ban is proposed for exports outside the EAEU customs territory. This measure would cover light distillates, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel, gas oils, toluene, xylene, and petroleum bitumen. It is scheduled to be in effect from July 1, 2026, until December 31, 2026.

The ministry stated that these measures are aimed at ensuring Kazakhstan's energy security and maintaining stability in the domestic market for petroleum products.

Export restrictions on fuels have been in force in Kazakhstan since May 2021 and have been regularly extended since their initial introduction.
