Trump Vows to Lift Iranian Port Blockade Upon Signing Peace Deal

Former US President Donald Trump has declared that the American naval blockade of Iranian ports will be lifted immediately upon the signing of a peace agreement with Tehran. He made these remarks to journalists in Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday, April 17.
"We have an important day. We'll see how it all ends, but it should be good. We've had some very good discussions. Talks are going on. It'll go on over the weekend, and a lot of good things are happening," Trump stated. "As soon as the agreement gets signed, that's when the blockade ends."
When reporters asked him to comment on media reports citing Iranian officials who claim significant disagreements between the two countries persist, Trump responded: "Well, maybe. We'll see what happens. If they exist, we'll have to settle them. But I don't think there are that many substantial disagreements."
The announcement comes just hours after both Iran and the United States stated that a strategic waterway, which had been effectively closed since the start of the conflict, would be fully opened for commercial traffic during the current ceasefire period. Following these statements, oil prices fell significantly.
Separately, France and Great Britain announced they would lead a multinational mission to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz "as soon as conditions allow."
