Kazakh President Tokayev Backs Trump's Criticism of UN Ineffectiveness

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan has expressed agreement with former US President Donald Trump's sharp criticism of the United Nations, highlighting systemic failures within the international body.
Speaking at a panel session of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, Tokayev pointed to the UN Security Council as a primary obstacle. "It looks very strange and perhaps even absurd, but it is precisely the Security Council that impedes the resolution of the most important international issues," he stated.
"This problem was very eloquently addressed by President Donald Trump last September at the General Assembly session, and I fully agree with him. He criticized the non-working teleprompter and escalator at the UN headquarters, saying that everything in the UN is broken. But the most serious problem is that the entire peacekeeping process is disrupted both in the United Nations and in other structures."
Tokayev noted that diplomats and politicians are often forced to conduct negotiations on other platforms due to these institutional blockages.
Despite his criticism, President Tokayev reaffirmed his belief in multilateral diplomacy and a hopeful future for humanity united around justice as a central element for strengthening peace.
The Kazakh leader had previously warned of growing global tensions and the diminishing role of the UN in conflict resolution. He has consistently emphasized the urgent need for reform within the United Nations, particularly its Security Council, and called for strengthened preventive diplomacy to avert international crises.
