Organized Crime Group Dismantled in West Kazakhstan for Billion-Tenge Drug Trafficking
@TengriNews
Law enforcement agencies in West Kazakhstan have successfully dismantled a criminal organization involved in the large-scale illicit trafficking of potent pharmaceutical drugs. The group, which had been operating for a prolonged period, was neutralized through a joint operation by the regional police, the National Security Committee (KNB), and the prosecutor's office.
The criminal scheme was systematic and cleverly disguised as legitimate pharmaceutical activity. Through controlled distribution channels, the group sold psychoactive drugs that induce a state of intoxication and create strong addiction, a practice commonly referred to as "pharmacy drug abuse." This activity was reportedly targeted specifically at young people.

The primary consumers were identified as individuals aged 18 to 25. This group included people with prior convictions, those on official watchlists, and Kazakhstani citizens being drawn into substance abuse for the first time.
As a result of extensive investigative measures, this stable criminal scheme has been halted, preventing further distribution of psychoactive substances. Authorities seized large batches of medicinal drugs, narcotics, ammunition, and significant sums of money during the operation. Evidence of illegal cultivation of prohibited plants was also uncovered.

Eleven suspects have been identified in connection with the case. Six key members of the organized crime group have been taken into custody and placed under arrest.
Preliminary estimates indicate that the total turnover of the group's illegal activities amounted to approximately one billion tenge. Assets believed to have been acquired through criminal means, including real estate properties and expensive vehicles, have been seized.
Authorities stated that shutting down this network has dealt a serious blow to the region's shadow drug market and prevented more young people from being drawn into drug consumption, thereby averting potentially more severe consequences. Police warned that any attempts at illicit trafficking of psychoactive substances will be strictly suppressed within the framework of the law.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details are not being disclosed in the interest of the proceedings.
