Lebanon Accuses Israel of Violating Ceasefire with Attacks on Southern Villages
@TengriNews
Lebanese authorities have reported that Israeli forces conducted attacks on southern Lebanon, actions they claim violate a previously announced ceasefire agreement. According to the reports, the incidents occurred in the early hours of April 17.
Israeli reconnaissance drones were observed flying over the western slopes of Mount Hermon and the southern part of the Rashaya district from dawn. Following the declared ceasefire, artillery reportedly struck the town of Khiyam with five shells.
Shortly before the truce was set to take effect, the town of Deir Mimas also came under fire. One shell hit a residential building, causing a fire.
In another incident in Qunine, an ambulance brigade was reportedly targeted by shelling, resulting in several wounded personnel.
A separate tragic event was reported in Majdal Selm, where a teenager was killed and another person was injured by an explosion from an unexploded ordnance.
The reported attacks come after U.S. President Donald Trump stated that leaders from Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a ten-day cessation of hostilities, scheduled to begin on April 16 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time (3:00 AM on April 17 Astana time).
