U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark ultimatum to Iran, giving the country between 10 and 15 days to conclude a new agreement. The American leader stated that Tehran must sign a "meaningful deal" or face serious consequences.

In Tehran, Trump's statements were interpreted as a sign of a real threat of military escalation. Iranian authorities warned that any aggression would have catastrophic consequences for the region and international security.

Iran has previously stated that in the event of an attack, it would consider all U.S. military assets in the Middle East as legitimate targets for a retaliatory strike. This category also includes bases and assets of any other "hostile forces" in the region.

Tehran places full responsibility for any potential escalation on Washington. Iran had previously indicated a willingness to resume nuclear program negotiations, but only on the condition of a complete lifting of American sanctions.

In parallel, Trump confirmed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the U.S. readiness to support Israeli strikes against Iran's missile program should diplomatic efforts ultimately fail.
