Kazakh President Condemns Drone Attack on Nakhchivan Airport

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has issued a firm condemnation of the recent drone attack targeting an airport in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. The statement was released by his press secretary, Aibek Smadiyarov.
The Kazakh leader denounced the act of aggression against Azerbaijan, which he described as a fraternal and allied nation. He expressed hope for a joint and thorough investigation of the incident with Iran to clarify the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Furthermore, President Tokayev emphasized the importance of resolving the conflict through diplomatic channels. He stressed that such measures are crucial to prevent an escalation of tensions in the region.
The incident involved unmanned aerial vehicles reportedly launched from Iran that crashed on the territory of Nakhchivan Airport. According to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, the attack resulted in damage to airport infrastructure and injuries to several civilians.
Authorities in Tehran have denied launching drones toward Azerbaijan. The Iranian General Staff suggested that similar actions had previously been undertaken by Israel with the aim of damaging relations between Muslim countries.
