Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, Serik Zhumangarin, held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleksandr Mishchenko.
The parties discussed prospects for developing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. A key topic was the potential resumption of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
Agricultural cooperation remains a priority area. It was noted that dairy farms in several Kazakh regions have collaborated with the Ukrainian Association of Milk Producers for several years. This partnership involved supplies of pedigree dairy cattle and advanced training for Kazakh specialists in managing dairy farms.
Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Ukraine reached $415.8 million in 2025, marking a 5.4% increase compared to the $394.3 million recorded in 2024.
Key Kazakh exports to Ukraine include ferroalloys, fertilizers, rice, and other goods. Major imports from Ukraine consist of chocolate and cocoa products, flour-based and confectionery items, pharmaceuticals, cheeses, cottage cheese, and other dairy products.
Following the meeting, both sides agreed to intensify business contacts. They will work on resuming the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission and aim to expand cooperation in priority sectors, primarily within the agro-industrial complex.
