Kazakh PM Bektanov Hails New Constitution as Historic Step for Nation

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektanov has congratulated the people of Kazakhstan on the adoption of a new Constitution, describing the event as a historic milestone that marks the country's entry into a new phase of development.

In his statement, Bektanov emphasized that citizens demonstrated genuine patriotism through their active participation in the nationwide referendum. He stated that the vote expressed broad public support for President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's course toward large-scale political and socio-economic transformations.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Kazakhstani citizens have become direct participants in an event of immense historical scale and significance. "As the President noted, our people voted for the further modernization of the country and contributed to strengthening our statehood," Bektanov said.

He added that the modern history of a Just and Progressive Kazakhstan is being built exclusively on democratic values while paying due respect to national traditions and culture. "I am confident that together we can achieve our goals, ensuring the quality and dynamism of ongoing reforms," Bektanov expressed his conviction.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister stated: "I congratulate all Kazakhstani citizens on adopting a new Constitution, which serves as a symbol of Unity, Independence, and Sovereignty of our Homeland – the Republic of Kazakhstan!"

The referendum results showed overwhelming support for constitutional changes. According to exit polls, more than 86 percent of surveyed voters supported adopting the new Constitution. The Central Election Commission recorded preliminary voter turnout at 73.24 percent.
