Uzbek and Kazakh Presidents Discuss Strategic Partnership and Regional Agenda

On March 16, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

At the beginning of the talks, the Uzbek leader sincerely congratulated his Kazakh counterpart on the successful holding of a referendum on a draft new Constitution. It was noted that the adopted amendments will become a solid legal foundation and an additional incentive for Kazakhstan's further sustainable development, as well as contribute to strengthening its international authority.

During the conversation, the leaders discussed current issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Kazakh relations of strategic partnership and alliance in the context of implementing agreements reached at the highest level.

Special attention was paid to advancing joint projects and programs in trade, economic, investment, transport, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as other priority areas of interaction.

The presidents also exchanged views on key issues on the international and regional agenda and considered a schedule for upcoming bilateral and multilateral events.

Concluding their conversation, the heads of state exchanged sincere congratulations on the upcoming holidays of Ramadan Hayit (Eid al-Fitr) and Nowruz (Navruz), wishing peace, prosperity and further progress to their fraternal peoples.
