French President Emmanuel Macron has called for diversifying Europe's uranium supply sources, identifying Uzbekistan as a key partner in reducing dependence on Russian imports.

Speaking at an international nuclear energy summit in Paris, the French leader acknowledged that Europe remains reliant on Russian uranium. He stressed that expanding cooperation with other raw material producers is essential for ensuring energy security.

Alongside Uzbekistan, Macron listed Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Canada, and Australia as alternative suppliers capable of strengthening Europe's supply chain.

The President emphasized that nuclear power remains a cornerstone for achieving energy independence, decarbonization goals, and economic growth. He also urged closer collaboration between national nuclear safety authorities and the development of unified industry standards.

Macron announced that new decisions regarding the development of France's nuclear energy sector will be discussed at a meeting of the Nuclear Policy Council in Paris in the coming days.
