Kazakh Citizen Detained in Almaty with 8 Kilograms of Methamphetamine

A citizen of Kazakhstan has been detained in Almaty while receiving a shipment of 8 kilograms of synthetic methamphetamine. The arrest was the result of a coordinated operation.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code in connection with this case.
With court sanction, the measure of restraint "detention" has been chosen for the apprehended individual.
Earlier reports from early February indicated that nearly 20 kilograms of narcotics were seized in Kazakhstan over a ten-day period.
Furthermore, since the beginning of 2026, authorities have removed 325 kilograms of drugs from illicit circulation nationwide. Approximately half of this total consists of synthetic substances.
