Kazakhstan Outlines Oil Sector Strategy at CERAWeek Conference

@МЭ РК
Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy, Yerlan Akkenshenov, presented the country's strategic vision for its oil industry during a session at the international CERAWeek energy conference. The discussion focused on global oil market fundamentals and geopolitical turbulence.
The minister affirmed Kazakhstan's role as a reliable supplier of energy resources to the world market. He outlined several key challenges facing the sector, with energy security being paramount. A central concern is ensuring the stable operation of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which handles the bulk of Kazakh oil exports.
Maintaining uninterrupted flows through this route was described as critically important for the national economy. While Kazakhstan continues to diversify its export options, including developing routes to China, the CPC remains the most economically efficient and prioritized transportation channel.
Akkenshenov also highlighted efforts to improve the investment climate in the oil and gas sector. He pointed to an Enhanced Model Contract currently in effect, which offers tax incentives designed to attract new investment into hydrocarbon exploration and production.
Strategic plans for developing petrochemicals were another focal point. Kazakhstan intends to double its oil refining capacity. This expansion aims not only to meet domestic demand but also to strengthen the country's position as a supplier of petroleum products within Central Asia.
The participation in CERAWeek underscores Kazakhstan's commitment to active dialogue with the global energy community and advancing balanced policies amid worldwide challenges and geopolitical instability.
