President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a telephone conversation with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The leaders began the conversation by exchanging warm congratulations on the occasion of Oraza Ait and the Nauryz holiday.

The Turkish leader congratulated Tokayev on the successful holding of the nationwide referendum and the adoption of Kazakhstan's new Constitution. Erdogan noted that this became possible thanks to the wise and confident policy of the Head of Kazakhstan. The President of Turkey expressed confidence that the new Basic Law will give a strong impetus to the further progressive development of Kazakhstan and strengthen its domestic and international potential.

President Tokayev thanked Turkish observers for their active participation and assistance in holding the referendum, which reflects the traditionally fraternal and friendly nature of relations between the two countries.

Erdogan stated that he attaches great importance to his state visit to Kazakhstan scheduled for May 14, as well as to holding a meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council during this visit. He also highlighted an upcoming informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States.

Tokayev agreed with his counterpart's view on the enormous importance of these planned high-level negotiations in Astana for giving additional impetus to bilateral strategic partnership. He also emphasized that he has high hopes for the summit of heads of Turkic-speaking countries in Turkistan, noting that Kazakh people will warmly welcome President Erdogan's stay in their country.

In turn, Erdogan invited President Tokayev to take part in a meeting of the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya in April. The invitation was gratefully accepted.
