The State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan has announced the successful prevention of a terrorist plot, which it states was developed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The operation was part of comprehensive counterintelligence measures aimed at protecting citizens and the country's strategic infrastructure.

According to the SSS, the intended targets included strategically vital sites and representatives of religious communities. Among the named objectives were the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Israeli embassy in Baku, a leader of the Mountain Jewish community, and an Ashkenazi synagogue.

The security service reported that three explosive devices had been smuggled into Azerbaijani territory. Their transfer to other individuals was intercepted, preventing potential casualties and destruction.

As a result of the operational measures, the terrorist plans were neutralized. A court has already convicted several Azerbaijani citizens in connection with the case. Four individuals have been found guilty and sentenced to six years and six months in prison.

Two other defendants are accused of preparing an attempt on the life of a public figure, while another faces charges for illegal possession of weapons and explosives. A pre-trial detention measure has been applied against these three accused persons.
