Astana Mayor Zhenis Kassymbek has cast his vote in the nationwide constitutional referendum. The city official voted at a polling station located in the Palace of Schoolchildren.

According to the city administration, 501 polling stations opened in the capital at 7:00 AM. This network includes 395 standard stations and 106 temporary stations for mobile voting. From the early morning, a high level of activity has been observed among citizens arriving to vote.

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov also voted in Astana, casting his ballot at School-Lyceum No. 66 named after Dinmukhamed Kunaev.

The referendum on adopting a new Constitution commenced across Kazakhstan today. Polling stations are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM local time, after which the vote count will begin. Some stations, primarily in military units, opened earlier at 6:00 AM.

The ballot contains a single question: whether citizens accept the new Constitution of Kazakhstan published in the media on February 12, 2026. Voters must decide to support or reject the entire document as a whole.

The right to vote is granted to all citizens of Kazakhstan aged 18 and older who are included in voter lists. Kazakh citizens abroad were among the first to vote, with polling already underway in countries like Japan and South Korea.
