Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a postponement of a new round of peace talks aimed at ending the conflict in his country. He cited the international focus on the crisis surrounding Iran as the primary reason for the delay.
In a statement, Zelenskyy noted that communication with American partners is ongoing around the clock. However, he explained that their current priority and full attention is directed towards the situation involving Iran.
"Because of this, a meeting planned for this week at the proposal of the American side is being postponed," Zelenskyy stated. He emphasized Ukraine's readiness to engage at any moment, adding, "Ukraine is ready for a meeting at any time in whatever format can be helpful and realistic from the point of view of ending the war."
The president had previously indicated that a new round of negotiations could take place between March 5 and 8. Furthermore, it was reported that another round of three-party talks on resolving the Ukrainian conflict was scheduled for March 11 in Istanbul.
The announcement comes after Ukraine and Russia resumed their dialogue in Geneva, with a third round of negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow held on February 17.
