Several high-ranking police officials in Kazakhstan's Atyrau Region have been removed from their posts following an official inspection. The dismissals were ordered by the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that a number of senior officers from the regional police department were relieved of duty. The ministry stated that it routinely conducts planned service checks on the activities of its territorial units.
"Due to identified gross violations of service and military discipline, a lack of proper control, and poor work organization, the Minister of Internal Affairs has ordered the dismissal from their positions of the head of the Atyrau city police department, as well as the heads of the internal security department and the department for combating drug-related crimes within the Atyrau Regional Police Department," an official statement read.
The move underscores ongoing efforts within the ministry to enforce legality and service discipline among its personnel. The minister has previously emphasized a principled approach to maintaining order within the ranks of law enforcement agencies.
