Kazakhstan's Ice Cream Exports Surpass Imports for First Time in 2025

Kazakhstan has achieved a historic milestone in its food industry, with ice cream exports exceeding imports for the first time ever in 2025. Official data shows export volumes reached 14,167 tons, while imports stood at 12,194 tons.
This reversal marks a significant shift from two decades ago. In 2005, the country exported a mere 12 tons of ice cream against imports of over 12,000 tons. The current success is attributed to long-term modernization strategies and a focused push into foreign markets by domestic producers.
"The geography of our supplies has expanded to ten countries," stated Ombek Zhuldyz, Vice President for Corporate Affairs at Shin-Line company. "This fundamental change demonstrates the high competitiveness of Kazakhstani products and the maturity of the industry."
Industry experts point to several key drivers behind this growth. Major investments in modern production facilities, the adoption of advanced technologies, and systematic state support for local manufacturers have all played crucial roles. The increase in both export revenue and average export price indicates a strategic move from competing on price alone to competing on quality and brand strength.
Shin-Line, which accounts for the majority of Kazakhstan's ice cream exports, continues to strengthen its international presence. The company's performance highlights the potential of domestic enterprises to establish sustainable export trends and promote the "Made in Kazakhstan" brand on global markets.
