A new scientific and educational initiative, the Alliance of Euro-Asian Universities and Research Centers, has been established in Tashkent. The alliance was formed during the international forum "Italy – Central Asia (C5) + Azerbaijan."
The primary goal of the alliance is to strengthen cooperation in the fields of climate resilience, food security, and food technology. It aims to expand joint scientific research, develop innovative solutions to pressing problems, and enhance regional integration in science, education, and innovation.
As part of this initiative, agreements were signed between leading universities and research institutes from Italy and Uzbekistan. These include Italy's CREA (Council for Agricultural Research and Economics) and Uzbekistan's Department of Biology, Agriculture and Food Sciences of the National Research Council. These documents provide the legal and organizational foundation for the alliance's activities.
The alliance will facilitate joint research on climate change adaptation, efficient use of water and land resources, food security assurance, and the development of food technologies. Further plans include student and scholar exchanges, implementation of joint educational programs, and practical application of innovative developments.
Separately from the alliance formation, 17 additional documents were signed between Italy and Uzbekistan in the field of agricultural education. This reflects an active expansion of scientific and educational cooperation between the two nations.
The creation of this alliance marks a new chapter in integrating universities and research centers. It is positioned to become a key platform for fostering sustainable development across the region.
