Kazakhstan is set to introduce a new state award—the Order of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced this decision during a meeting with the public in the Turkestan region.
The President stated that he would soon sign a decree to include the Order of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in the official list of state honors. "This high award will be conferred upon prominent domestic and foreign scientists, as well as state and public figures. I believe this order should possess a high status," said the Head of State.
Tokayev emphasized the importance of recognizing Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, first and foremost, as an outstanding representative of the Kazakh people. He called for widespread promotion of the thinker's legacy globally, particularly in major countries, but stressed that introducing his work to fellow citizens is a primary task.
"It is necessary to dedicate high-quality books and films to this historical figure and organize readings dedicated to the unique intellectual heritage of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in all regions," noted the President.
The announcement was made on Saturday, March 21, during Tokayev's working trip to the Turkestan region. The visit began with a tour of one of the sacred sites of the Turkic world—the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi—before his address to the public.
