380 Kazakhs Defrauded by 'Sirius Energy' Crypto Pyramid Scheme

An investigation has been launched into the leadership of a structural unit of the "Sirius Energy" financial pyramid scheme. The organizer, presenting himself as a representative of the Chilean company "Sirius Energy," convinced citizens to invest in supposedly high-yield projects in the renewable energy sector.

The scheme exclusively accepted funds in the USDT cryptocurrency. After receiving payments, investors were given access to personal accounts displaying conditional bonuses.

To attract depositors, the suspect opened offices in Almaty and Astana, conducted regular training sessions, and advertised through social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. He also registered an LLP in a third party's name to create an appearance of legitimate business activity, which was not actually carried out.

According to official data, 380 citizens have become victims of this financial pyramid. One victim, persuaded by the organizer's promises, took out a loan of three million tenge to invest in the project, expecting high returns.

The promised payments never materialized, and he is now forced to repay the loan with interest on his own. By court order, the organizer's bank accounts have been seized. Further details are not being disclosed in the interests of the ongoing investigation.
