On April 7, 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China (with the rank of Vice Minister) Liu Bin held regular political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
The diplomats discussed a wide range of issues concerning political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. They also exchanged views on interaction within multilateral frameworks. The sides reviewed in detail the progress in implementing agreements reached at the highest and high levels, noting positive dynamics in the development of Kazakh-Chinese relations across the entire spectrum of bilateral interaction.
The interlocutors paid special attention to ongoing political transformations in both countries. They noted the symbolic significance of Kazakhstan's successful constitutional referendum in March this year and China's "Two Sessions," describing them as important stages in progressive development and modernization.
Particular emphasis was placed on joint efforts to enhance trade and economic ties. The necessity for developing joint approaches to industrial-investment, energy, transit-transport, and innovation cooperation was highlighted. This includes increasing Kazakhstan's non-raw material exports to China.
The heads of delegations also exchanged views on current international and regional agenda items. They confirmed a closeness and alignment in their approaches to key aspects of global stability. The progress in preparing for planned high-level visits and events this year was also considered.
The sides expressed their commitment to further deepening coordination within international and regional structures such as the UN, SCO, CICA, and the "Central Asia–China" format.
Following the consultations, both parties reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening comprehensive strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China. This partnership is based on principles of good-neighborliness, mutual respect, equality, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
