Prominent Kazakh Lawyer Detained in Almaty Over Alleged False Information

In Almaty, the well-known Kazakh lawyer Adiletkhan Moldakhan has been detained. The city's police department confirmed the information, which had earlier circulated on social media.

The police stated that a pre-trial investigation has been initiated against citizen M. On suspicion of disseminating deliberately false information. The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility, and the investigation is ongoing.

Adiletkhan Moldakhan is a lawyer specializing in civil, criminal, and administrative cases. His Instagram account boasts over one million followers.

The detention follows the lawyer's recent social media activity concerning a fatal traffic accident on Al-Farabi Avenue in Almaty, which claimed three lives. Moldakhan published a video suggesting that a law enforcement officer might have been involved in the incident.

Subsequently, the head of the Almaty Police Department announced the launch of an official internal investigation into the accident. "The police department is conducting an official investigation; a clear legal assessment will be given, and we will take the most severe measures if employees are found guilty," stated Aydyn Kabduldinov at the time.
