Uzbekistan Plans $5 Billion AI Development Hub in Karakalpakstan

Uzbekistan has announced a major initiative to develop artificial intelligence technologies in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, with plans to attract over five billion dollars in investment.

The ambitious project is outlined in a presidential decree titled "On the Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Karakalpakstan in 2026 and the Approval of Programs Designed for Subsequent Years." The decree establishes a framework for long-term growth in the autonomous republic.

A core objective is to increase the region's capacity tenfold over the next five years. This expansion will focus on data centers, modular intelligent computing complexes, and cloud computing infrastructure.

The overarching goal is to build modern digital infrastructure and integrate AI technologies into key sectors of Karakalpakstan's economy, aiming to drive significant technological advancement and economic development.
