Uzbekistan and UNESCO Sign Cooperation Agreement and Roadmap in Paris

On April 8, a significant meeting took place at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris between Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO and the Foundation for the Development of Art and Culture, and Khaled Al-Anani, Director-General of UNESCO.
The high-level talks culminated in the signing of two key documents: a Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNESCO, and a joint "Roadmap" outlining plans for 2026–2027.
The newly signed agreement is designed to translate into practical action the initiatives proposed by the President of Uzbekistan during the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference. That landmark session was held in Samarkand in November 2025.
The documents establish a concrete framework for future collaboration across several vital sectors. These include education, science, culture, communication, and information.
This step is seen as a major move to solidify long-term strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the international organization.
