@UZDaily
Key agreements were reached in Tashkent to facilitate the employment of Uzbek citizens for seasonal work in Italy's agricultural sector. The meeting brought together the heads of Uzbekistan's Migration Agency and Ministry of Agriculture with their Italian counterparts and business representatives.
A cooperation agreement was signed between Uzbekistan's Migration Agency and the Italian association Associazione Imprese Ortofrutticole. This organization unites over 35 major Italian companies involved in fruit and vegetable production, including farms, processing plants, logistics, and export operations.
The signed document establishes that citizens of Uzbekistan will be able to take up seasonal employment for periods ranging from three to nine months. The association's primary focus is on products such as apples, kiwis, pomegranates, strawberries, and other fruits.
Association President Marco Salvi announced that a pilot project is planned for 2026, aiming to employ 100 Uzbek citizens. The initiative will ensure these workers are provided with all necessary working and living conditions during their stay in Italy.
