Ukraine to Deploy Specialists to Middle East to Counter Iranian Drones

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that Ukraine will provide specialists and equipment to the Middle East at the request of the United States. The mission is aimed at countering Iranian-made "Shahed" drones.
Zelenskyy stated that he received a specific request from Washington for support in defending against these drones in the region. He has ordered the provision of necessary means and ensured the presence of Ukrainian specialists who can guarantee security.
"Ukraine helps partners who help our security and protect the lives of our people," Zelenskyy wrote in a statement, concluding with "Glory to Ukraine!"
The president emphasized that Ukrainian expertise in countering Shahed drones is currently the most extensive in the world, making it a key asset for addressing this threat in the Middle East.
The decision comes with a critical condition: any assistance provided must not diminish Ukraine's own defensive capabilities amid its ongoing war. Zelenskyy framed this support as a diplomatic investment, helping those who assist Ukraine in achieving a just end to its conflict.
In recent days, Zelenskyy has held talks with leaders from several Gulf states, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. He indicated that further negotiations with other regional leaders are planned, with coordination also taking place with European partners.
When asked by journalists if he had requested such help from Ukraine, U.S. President Donald Trump responded, "I will accept any help from any country."
This development follows an earlier announcement by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer that the UK would involve experts from Ukraine to help shoot down Iranian UAVs in the Persian Gulf. London has also agreed to allow U.S. Forces to use British bases for strikes against Iranian missile launchers and storage facilities.
