In a brazen and meticulously planned robbery, thieves have stolen three valuable impressionist paintings from the private Magnani-Rocca Foundation museum near Parma, Italy. The criminals executed the theft in a mere three minutes, escaping through the garden after forcing open an entrance door.

The robbery occurred during the night of March 22-23, though authorities only made the information public recently. The stolen works include Pierre-Auguste Renoir's late painting "Fish," Paul Cézanne's pencil and watercolor "Still Life with Cherries," and Henri Matisse's watercolor "Odalisque on a Terrace."

According to the foundation, which was established by art critic and collector Luigi Magnani, this was a premeditated crime. Officials stated that further damage was prevented only by the museum's security camera system and the swift response of police and guards. The estimated value of the stolen artworks is in the millions of euros, and an investigation is underway.

The Magnani-Rocca Foundation houses one of Italy's most significant private art collections, featuring works by masters such as Titian, Dürer, Rubens, and Goya alongside its modern pieces.

This incident follows another major art world theft in recent months. On October 19, 2025, jewels belonging to French monarchs, valued at approximately 88 million euros, were stolen from the Louvre in Paris. During that escape, the thieves dropped a crown adorned with diamonds and emeralds that belonged to Empress Eugénie. Several suspects have been detained in connection with that case, but the jewels themselves remain missing.
