US Envoy Hints at Potential Trump-Putin-Zelensky Summit Within Weeks

In a recent television interview, Steve Witkoff, a special envoy for the U.S. President, indicated that significant developments regarding peace efforts in Ukraine could be announced soon.

"I hope you'll hear some good news in the coming weeks," Witkoff stated during a conversation with Lara Trump on Fox News.

The envoy elaborated that negotiations expected to take place within the next three weeks could pave the way for a high-level meeting. This potential diplomatic event might involve U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"Jared [Kushner] and I hope to present some proposals to both sides that will bring them together in the next three weeks," Witkoff explained. "That could perhaps lead to a summit between Zelensky and President Putin, and maybe at some point—to a trilateral one with the [U.S.] president. We'll see."

He emphasized that President Trump would only agree to participate in such a three-way meeting if confident it would result in a solidified agreement and an improved outcome.

This statement follows recent diplomatic activity. A third round of talks involving representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States was held in Geneva on February 17-18. Vladimir Medinsky, head of the Russian delegation and an aide to President Putin, described those discussions as tough but businesslike and announced plans for another meeting. Officials from Kyiv had previously noted a lack of significant progress on political aspects of the issues under discussion.
