Trump Threatens to Leave Iran Without Power for a Decade

Former US President Donald Trump has issued a stark threat against Iran, vowing to destroy the country's power plants and leave it without electricity for ten years. He made the statement during an interview with Fox News.
"We can hit them. We can take them all out so that you won't be able to get electricity for ten years," Trump said, referring to Iran's infrastructure. He added that such an American attack would force Iran to rebuild its power stations from scratch and indicated the US was also prepared to destroy Iranian bridges.
Trump expressed confidence that Tehran would eventually return to the negotiating table with Washington. "I predict they will come back (to the negotiating table) and give us everything," he stated. The former president claimed his previous threats had already brought Iran to talks.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump escalated his rhetoric further, writing: "At the right time… our military will finish destroying what little is left of Iran!" He promised that US armed forces would ultimately deal with what remains of the country.
Commenting on failed negotiations with Iran, Trump emphasized that Tehran's refusal to abandon its nuclear ambitions was the most critical issue. "In many ways agreed-upon points are better than continuing our military operations until their completion, but all these points are meaningless compared to allowing nuclear energy to be in the hands of such inconstant, complicated, unpredictable people," he wrote on Truth Social. He reiterated that Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons.
Trump also accused Iran of breaking a promise to open the Strait of Hormuz for navigation and demanded Tehran do so immediately. He claimed Iran's actions in the strategic waterway have caused alarm and damage worldwide and violate all possible laws.
The threats follow reports that talks between Iran and the US in Islamabad collapsed over the weekend. Negotiations began after Trump announced a two-week ceasefire agreement last Wednesday, but by Sunday, US Vice President JD Vance stated no deal had been reached and the American delegation was returning home empty-handed.
In response, Trump declared that the US would begin blockading all vessels attempting to enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz. He also ordered the US Navy to track and intercept any ships that had paid Iran for passage through the strait.
