Trump Announces Potential End to Iran Conflict Within Weeks

U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that the military conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran could conclude within the "next 2-3 weeks." He made these remarks during a conversation with journalists at the White House on the night of Wednesday, April 1.
"Their regime has changed. That wasn't part of my plan. I had one goal—to prevent them from acquiring nuclear weapons, and that goal has been achieved," Trump said. "We are finishing the job, and I think it will take perhaps two weeks, maybe a couple of days longer. But we want to destroy everything they have."
The U.S. President indicated that attacks on Iran would cease even if no formal deal is reached with Tehran. While he acknowledged that an earlier end to hostilities is possible if an agreement is struck—something he claimed Iranian authorities "very much want"—he stressed that whether a deal is finalized or not is ultimately "irrelevant."
"If France or any other country wants to get oil or gas, they can go through the Strait of Hormuz and take care of themselves. What happens in the strait does not concern us," Trump stated.
He commented on Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which has primarily affected European vessels, framing it as a problem for other nations but not for the United States.
President Trump also addressed the sharp 50 percent increase in oil prices triggered by the outbreak of war in the Middle East and the strait's blockade. He predicted that "prices will drop sharply" once U.S. Attacks on Iran cease "very soon."
The United States and Israel have been conducting airstrikes against Iran since February 28. These strikes have resulted in the deaths of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and a number of high-ranking officials and security personnel.
In response, Iran has been attacking Israel and Gulf states with missiles and drones. According to statements from the Islamic Republic, its strikes on Arab countries target American military bases in the region. Iranian attacks have also hit oil storage facilities in several Persian Gulf nations and oil tankers.
