Kazakh President Orders Enhanced Security for Critical Infrastructure
@TengriNews
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has issued instructions to strengthen the security of key facilities across Kazakhstan. The directive was announced by the President's Advisor and Press Secretary, Aibek Smadiyarov.
In a statement published on his Telegram channel, Smadiyarov detailed that the head of state has tasked the Prime Minister, heads of law enforcement agencies, the Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund, national companies, and regional governors with intensifying work to ensure the safety of critical infrastructure.
The order specifically covers vital life-support systems, as well as transport, energy, and utility infrastructure. This includes airports and sea and river ports. The Secretary of the Security Council has been appointed to oversee this comprehensive security effort.
This move follows a series of instructions given by President Tokayev on February 28th in connection with the escalating situation around Iran. At that time, he ordered Security Council Secretary Gizat Nurdauletov, together with leaders of law enforcement agencies and relevant ministries, to develop a plan for emergency measures to address potential threats to national stability.
Previously, Press Secretary Smadiyarov reported that on the President's orders, all law enforcement agencies have already been placed on a 24/7 operational schedule. Furthermore, a special monitoring group has begun work within the government under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
