Kazakh President Orders Enhanced Security for Critical Infrastructure
@TengriNews
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has issued instructions to strengthen the protection of vital infrastructure facilities across Kazakhstan. The directive targets key sectors including transport, energy, and utilities.
The order was communicated by the President's Advisor and Press Secretary, Aibek Smadiyarov. According to his statement, the Head of State has tasked the Prime Minister, heads of law enforcement agencies, the Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund, national companies, and regional governors with intensifying efforts to ensure the security of critical infrastructure.
The scope of the enhanced security measures encompasses objects essential for life support systems, as well as transport, energy, and communal infrastructure. Specific facilities mentioned include airports and sea and river ports.
Coordination of this comprehensive work has been entrusted to the Secretary of the Security Council.
This move follows a series of earlier instructions given by President Tokayev on February 28th in connection with the escalating situation around Iran. At that time, he ordered Security Council Secretary Gizat Nurdauletov to work with leaders of law enforcement agencies and relevant ministries to develop a plan for emergency measures in response to potential threats to national stability.
Previously, it was reported that on the President's orders, all law enforcement agencies have already been placed on a round-the-clock operational schedule. Furthermore, a special monitoring group has begun its work within the government under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
