President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received a detailed report on the criminal situation in Kazakhstan and the progress of his instructions to ensure public safety and order.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Yerzhan Sadenov, reported that the overall crime rate in Kazakhstan decreased by 8% in the first two months of 2026. This represents approximately 1,300 fewer crimes compared to the same period last year. The data indicates a reduction across major crime categories alongside an increase in case clearance rates.
A systematic fight against online fraud continues. Through preventive measures and cooperation with foreign law enforcement agencies, the number of cybercrimes has been reduced by 4%.
In combating organized crime, authorities have brought criminal charges against 71 members of organized criminal groups and dismantled the activities of 11 such gangs.
The battle against drug-related crime is also intensifying. Law enforcement has liquidated five drug laboratories. Their operations prevented over 881.5 kilograms of various narcotics from entering illegal circulation, including more than 104 kilograms of synthetic drugs.
The President was further briefed on expanding digital solutions for maintaining public order on streets and ensuring road safety. Additional measures to strengthen migration control and guarantee the inevitability of punishment were also discussed.
Separate attention was given to legislative initiatives aimed at protecting citizens. In 2025, the Law "On Crime Prevention" was adopted. This legislation established criminal liability for money muling ("dropping"), stalking, and forced marriage.
Following the meeting, the Head of State issued a series of instructions focused on further strengthening public security and law enforcement across the country.
