Kazakh President Tokayev Meets Georgian Interior Minister to Discuss Security Cooperation

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan held talks with Georgia's Minister of Internal Affairs, Gela Geladze, in Astana.

The meeting focused on current issues of bilateral cooperation in maintaining law and order and combating crime. President Tokayev emphasized that Georgia is an important and reliable partner for Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus region. He noted that the relations between the two nations, which have deep historical roots, have stood the test of time.

In turn, Minister Gela Geladze briefed President Tokayev on the work of Georgian law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of foreign tourists, including citizens of Kazakhstan.

The Ministries of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan and Georgia intend to strengthen cooperation in areas such as combating organized crime, drug trafficking, cybercrime, extremism, as well as exchanging best practices and training personnel.

Concluding the meeting, the Head of State conveyed greetings to Georgian President Mikhail Kavelaishvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

Invitation Extended

A year ago in Astana, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held negotiations with then-Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. At that time, the President highly praised the comprehensive development of Kazakh-Georgian relations. He stated that Georgia is a reliable partner for Kazakhstan in the Caucasus region, connected by strong bonds of friendship and close historical ties.

Irakli Kobakhidze expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and stressed that Kazakhstan was one of the first countries he visited after taking office. The head of the Georgian government invited President Tokayev to pay an official visit to Georgia.
