Kazakhstan's New Constitution to Take Effect July 1, March 15 Declared National Holiday

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced that Kazakhstan's new Constitution will officially enter into force on July 1. The date of the nationwide referendum, March 15, will be established as an annual state holiday—Constitution Day.
Tokayev made the announcement during a public address in the Turkestan region. He stated that he had signed the new Constitution earlier in the week and issued a decree on measures for its implementation.
The President emphasized that the constitutional reform marks a period of fundamental transformation for Kazakhstan. He described the referendum as a historic choice made by citizens for the country's future and noted that the new Basic Law received broad public support.
Tokayev highlighted the active role of youth in the national vote, calling it a demonstration of their innovation and maturity. He stated that the new Constitution is designed primarily for the benefit of younger generations and will serve as a guide for them. According to Tokayev, the constructive power of the document will be realized through youth participation in its implementation.
The President's working trip to Turkestan began with a visit to the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, a revered site in the Turkic world.
