Kazakh and Georgian Interior Ministries to Boost Security Cooperation

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan met with Georgia's Minister of Internal Affairs, Gela Geladze, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in law enforcement and crime prevention.

During the talks, the parties reviewed current issues of collaboration in maintaining public order and combating criminal activity. President Tokayev emphasized that Georgia is a significant and reliable partner for Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus region. He noted that the relations between the two nations, which have deep historical roots, have stood the test of time.

In turn, Minister Gela Geladze briefed President Tokayev on the work of Georgian law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of foreign tourists, including citizens of Kazakhstan.

The Ministries of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan and Georgia intend to enhance their partnership in several key areas. These include combating organized crime, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and extremism. The sides also plan to exchange best practices and collaborate on personnel training.

Concluding the meeting, President Tokayev conveyed his greetings to Georgian President Mikhail Kavelashvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
