President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has stated that the newly adopted Constitution of Kazakhstan is oriented towards the younger generation and will serve as their guide. He made these remarks during a meeting with the public in the Turkestan region.
The Head of State noted that he recently signed the Constitution into law and issued a decree on measures to implement its provisions. The new Basic Law will officially come into force on July 1.
Tokayev emphasized that the nationwide referendum clearly highlighted the activity, innovation, and maturity of Kazakhstani youth. He said representatives of the new generation made their choice as responsible, progressive, and creative citizens of their country.
"The new Constitution was adopted primarily for the benefit of the rising generation; one can say this document is youth-oriented. The Basic Law will become a true guide for young people. The constructive power of the New Constitution will be revealed through youth participation in its implementation," said Tokayev.
He pointed out that about 700,000 young citizens currently live in Turkestan region, constituting one-third of its total population. The President expressed his belief in young people's knowledge, abilities, and energy.
Tokayev added that only a generation that sincerely cares for its country can make an invaluable contribution to Kazakhstan's prosperity. In his view, the future of the state lies in patriotic, constructive, and responsible youth.
"A true patriot is someone who conscientiously and honestly does their job. Prosperity gained through honest labor will always be blessed. Lazy and inactive people can never become genuine patriots. Our society needs not declarations and empty talk, but real deeds. Patriotism is not loud speeches or showing off before people; it is, first and foremost, concrete actions that benefit the country and demonstrate loyalty to the Motherland," stated Tokayev.
The President had previously expressed deep gratitude to all compatriots who actively participated in the referendum. He stressed that the vote convincingly demonstrated the solidarity of Kazakhstan's citizens.
