Tokayev Appoints New Commander for Western Regional Command

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed a new commander for the Western Regional Command of Kazakhstan's Armed Forces.

By presidential decree, Nurlan Serikbayevich Karibayev has been named Commander of the Western Regional Command troops.

This appointment follows the dismissal of Bauyrzhan Artykov from the same position at the end of March. The change is part of a broader series of personnel reshuffles within the military leadership initiated by President Tokayev in early April.

Other recent appointments include Makhsut Kurmanaliyevich Guseynov as Commander of the Air Assault Forces and Baglan Abdizhalilovich Userbayev as Commander of the Astana Regional Command troops.
