A 24-year-old resident of Almaty has been sentenced to seven years in prison for drug trafficking. The conviction follows an operation by transport police that led to the seizure of a significant quantity of synthetic narcotics.
During a search of the suspect's vehicle, officers discovered the drug pyrrolidinovalerophenone, commonly known as a-PVP or "speed." The total weight of the confiscated substance was 476 grams.
Authorities estimate the street value of the seized batch at approximately 12.5 million tenge. The successful operation prevented the further distribution of this large consignment and disrupted an internal supply channel for synthetic drugs within the city.
The Nauyrzbay District Court of Almaty delivered its guilty verdict in February, concluding pre-trial proceedings in the case.
