The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has issued a direct warning to the civilian population of Iran, stating that the Iranian regime's placement of military assets within residential neighborhoods strips those areas of protected status under international law.

In an official statement, CENTCOM accused Iran of using densely populated civilian districts for military operations, including the launch of drones and ballistic missiles. "This dangerous decision endangers the lives of all peaceful Iranian citizens," the command stated, explaining that locations used for military purposes lose their protective status and can become legitimate military targets.

The U.S. Military specified that Iranian forces are utilizing populated areas in cities such as Dezful, Isfahan, and Shiraz to stage attacks. CENTCOM strongly urged Iranian civilians to remain at home, asserting that "the Iranian regime is knowingly endangering the lives of innocent people."

The statement further condemned Iran for jeopardizing security across the broader Middle East through what it described as deliberate and indiscriminate strikes on civilian airports, hotels, and residential quarters.

While acknowledging that U.S. Forces take all possible precautions to minimize harm to civilians, CENTCOM explicitly stated it cannot guarantee the safety of civilians on or near sites used by Iran for military purposes. The command drew a sharp contrast with its own operations, claiming American forces do not intentionally strike or endanger civilian populations.

The warning follows a significant wave of attacks. Since February 28th, Iran has launched hundreds of ballistic missiles and thousands of one-way attack drones, though the pace has reportedly slowed due to counter-efforts by U.S. And partner forces.

Regional tensions were highlighted by reports on Sunday, March 8th, from Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) detailing new missile attacks originating from Iran targeting civilian infrastructure. UAE authorities reported over 100 missiles and drones launched by Iran.

Bahrain accused Tehran of indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets which damaged one of its desalination plants; however, officials stated water supply remains normal. This incident follows an earlier claim from Iran that a U.S. Airstrike damaged its own desalination facility on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, cutting off water to 30 villages according to Iranian Foreign Ministry official Abbas Araghchi.
