Almaty Special Service Center Employees Convicted in Vehicle Registration Scam

Employees of special service centers in Almaty have been convicted for the illegal registration of cargo vehicles. The city prosecutor's office confirmed the details of the case.

The investigation revealed that in 2023, five employees illegally registered 18 cargo vehicles using forged documents, deliberately falsifying their actual year of manufacture.

"As a result of these unlawful actions, the state budget was deprived of 164 million tenge intended as a fee for the primary registration of vehicles. A comprehensive set of investigative actions and forensic examinations confirmed the illegal activities of the accused," stated the prosecutor's office.

Special prosecutors have completed the pre-trial investigation into this criminal case. During this process, the full amount of damage caused to the state was fully recovered.

The court found the defendants guilty and sentenced them to various terms of imprisonment.
