Britain's King Charles III has issued a formal statement following the arrest of his younger brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, expressing deep concern over the allegations of misconduct in public office that form the basis of the criminal case.
The King emphasized that the investigation must be full, fair, and proper. He stated the royal family's full and unconditional support for the actions of the competent authorities, adding that the law must take its course.
Charles III also noted that while the investigative process continues, he will not offer further comment on the matter. The monarch assured that he and his family will continue to perform their duty and service to the nation.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on February 19. He had previously been stripped of his prince title and other honorary military roles by the King due to his association with the convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Police are investigating a complaint that the former royal may have passed confidential material to Epstein. According to documents published in the United States, Andrew sent him reports on his trips to Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vietnam, and shared non-public information on investment opportunities.
