A storm warning is in effect throughout Kazakhstan on Wednesday, March 6, due to a complex of dangerous weather phenomena. Meteorologists forecast blizzards, heavy precipitation, and icy conditions across the country's regions.

In the capital city of Astana, residents should expect icy roads. In Almaty, intermittent fog and ice are predicted, accompanied by a northeastern wind with gusts up to 15 meters per second. In the mountainous zones of Ile Alatau (Medeu and Bostandyk districts), heavy snowfall is expected overnight, with wind gusts reaching 17-22 m/s.

The southern city of Shymkent will see fog at night and in the morning. The Karaganda region anticipates snow, blowing snow, and ice at night in its western, northern, and eastern parts. Similar conditions are forecast for the Ulytau region.

Western regions are also on alert. The Atyrau region expects fog and ice, with strong southern and southwestern winds gusting to 20 m/s. In the Aktobe region, icy conditions are predicted alongside blowing snow during the day and wind gusts of 15-18 m/s.

The Zhetisu region may experience fog and slippery roads in its southern, eastern, central, and mountainous areas. The Kyzylorda region will see fog in its northern and central parts.

Northern Kazakhstan faces challenging conditions. The Kostanay region forecasts light snow and blowing snow at night, transitioning to mixed precipitation (rain and snow) during the day alongside ice and fog. The West Kazakhstan region expects widespread ice and fog. The North Kazakhstan region will have snow and blizzards at night.

In the east, the East Kazakhstan and Abai regions are bracing for snow, blowing snow, ice patches, and fog. Wind gusts here could reach 20 m/s.

The Pavlodar region anticipates snowstorms and icy roads with strong southwestern winds. The Akmola region also expects nighttime snowstorms followed by light snow during the day combined with ice patches.
