The Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan has approved a law ratifying the Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the production and transmission of "green" energy between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

The session of the upper house, chaired by Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev, considered several bills and parliamentary inquiries. The agreement on joint work between the three countries in developing renewable energy was a key item on the agenda.

The ratification aims to strengthen Kazakhstan's energy security, diversify transit routes, and ensure sustainable economic growth through the export of low-carbon products. According to the agreement, a Steering Committee and a Working Group will be established to coordinate joint efforts.

The parties will determine technical and commercial conditions for reliable and uninterrupted transmission of green electricity.

The document also provides for the introduction of new energy-efficient technologies and the development of infrastructure for exporting energy to Europe and other regions.

The agreement was signed on November 13, 2024, in Baku by the heads of the three states. It is designed to strengthen regional cooperation in renewable energy.
