Russia Provides Iran with Intelligence on US Military Positions in the Middle East

Russia is supplying Iran with intelligence data to facilitate strikes against American military forces in the Middle East, according to a report citing unnamed sources. The information reportedly includes the locations of US assets such as ships and aircraft.
The scale of this intelligence-sharing operation appears to be significant, one source indicated. This cooperation effectively means Moscow is indirectly participating in the conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran, despite Russia's official calls for a cessation of hostilities, which it has termed an "unprovoked act of armed aggression."
The precise extent of Russian assistance in missile targeting remains unclear. However, analysts note that Iran's own capabilities for identifying targets have diminished since the outbreak of recent fighting, making the intelligence from Russia's Aerospace Forces particularly valuable. Iran possesses only a few military satellites and lacks its own satellite constellation network.
"They are doing this very deliberately. They are attacking command and control centers," said Dara Massicot, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, describing Iran's strikes. She added that Tehran is launching precise attacks against early-warning radars or over-the-horizon radar systems.
Iranian attacks have also targeted locations in Kuwait, where six US service members were killed, as well as CIA-associated structures at the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated this week that Russia and China are not a "factor" influencing the situation around Iran and that he has no specific message for them regarding the conflict.
