Kazakh and Chinese Officials Discuss Strategic Partnership at Boao Forum

On the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia in Hainan, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar held talks with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China. The meeting focused on the current state and future prospects of the bilateral strategic partnership.

Roman Sklyar congratulated his counterpart on the successful conclusion of China's "Two Sessions" and the adoption of its 2026-2030 social and economic development plan. He also informed Zhao Leji about a significant domestic development: on March 15, Kazakh citizens adopted a new Constitution via a national referendum. Sklyar emphasized that this marks a crucial step for Kazakhstan's further progress.

The Kazakh official highlighted the fruitful cooperation between the two nations in parliamentary exchanges. He also noted the dynamic growth in trade, economic relations, and collaboration in investment, transport, and energy sectors.

In response, Zhao Leji underscored that China places great importance on its high-trust relationship with Kazakhstan, which is defined as an "eternal" and comprehensive strategic partnership. The Chinese leader expressed support for the reforms initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, aimed at ensuring Kazakhstan's continued prosperity.

Both sides emphasized the significance of their cooperation within multilateral frameworks, including the United Nations (UN), the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and the "Central Asia–China" format.
